IIoT World ICS Cybersecurity Day 2023

Rick has 20+ years in designing and implementing OT security programs, tailoring projects to clients in industries including oil and gas, refining, mining, power, and manufacturing. Rick always approaches engagements with an eye towards building a scalable, cost-effective and manageable solution.

Julia Pitlik is an executive with a solid track record of building and executing strategic marketing, sales, and employee engagement programs that have delivered increased revenues, market share, and awareness for highly regarded companies and new ventures in extremely competitive segments of technology, communications, and commercial real estate sectors.

Most recently, Julia served as the Chief Marketing Officer for Red Bison Technology Group, a growth-stage start-up venture focused on creating a sustainable and competitive advantage for commercial real estate owners and operators with property technology innovations, cost leadership, and data analytics to increase asset values and lease renewals for properties at all lifecycle stages. At Red Bison, Julia was responsible for leading the development and execution of strategic marketing programs and new market categories that create demand and brand awareness, along with increased revenues and market share for the company.

Before Red Bison, Julia spent several years as part of the executive leadership team at two other growth-stage start-ups focused on open platform networks and property technology for the commercial real estate sector, including CMO for BeyondEdge, a software-defined edge compute company focused on advancing networks via open and modular software platforms with zero-trust access that deliver highly automated in-building networks. She was also SVP of Marketing for CrossLayer, a managed network services company with a software-driven, edge computing platform designed to meet the market needs of commercial real estate owners and developers.

During her career, Julia has held several executive and senior management positions in business development, sales, marketing, public relations, and talent acquisition with Nexius, Fujitsu, Sprint, and Texas Instruments. Julia graduated from the UT Dallas Executive MBA program and received a B.S. (magna cum laude) in Public Relations from Illinois State University. She is actively involved in both local and national community and philanthropic programs tied to neurodiversity and autism.
She is a member of the Board of Directors for Music Movement, a nonprofit organization that develops programs to support children and young adults with autism.

Jim Montgomery is a 30-year veteran of IT security working in all aspects of solution design, deployment and implementation. During this time, he has helped several fortune 100 companies implement complex strategies for operational efficiency and secure processing. Jim is currently focused on OT/ICS architecture design and implementation, emphasizing targeted approaches to solve specific functional goals while keeping the environment operational.

Máire Sogabe is a Cybersecurity Consultant with extensive experience securing IT & OT environments and advancing information security and risk management programs. Prior to her current role at Eolas Cyber Solutions LLC, she worked at Generate where she led Security & Compliance and built a robust security program that proactively manages risk, ensures compliance, and adapts to evolving threats.

Before joining Generate, Máire served as a Cyber Security Consultant at Engie, focusing on aligning the IT digital security program to the NIST CyberSecurity Framework to ensure the security and resilience of IT and OT assets across North America. Prior to Engie, she worked at Pacific Gas & Electric (PG&E) where she managed strategic initiatives to protect PG&E’s critical infrastructure, information assets, and business operations for the Chief Security Officer. During her time at PG&E, she also implemented complex technology solutions for the electric, gas, and nuclear business, facilitating digital transformation, and enabling next-generation energy management and the Grid of Things. Máire managed one of the largest, most complex Utility GIS implementations in North America.

She is a two-time energy hackathon winner. She was recognised as one of the “Silicon Valley 50” by the Irish Technology Leadership group for her leadership in technology.

Máire is an “In Residence Thought Leader” for the Munster Technology University M.Sc. in FinTech Innovation program in Ireland. She holds a M.A. in Community Development from the NUI Galway, and a M.Sc. in Information Systems from Golden Gate University, in San Francisco, California.

Máire is passionate about mission-driven innovation, emerging tech, and startups. She is keenly interested in AI, IoT, smart cities, autonomous vehicles, and green tech. She is committed to addressing climate change, and creating a secure, resilient and sustainable future.

Mr. Lutz leads the Cyber Operations group at RMC and is a recognized expert in Industrial Control Systems and Operational Technology cybersecurity. Under his leadership, the group has grown significantly to support all aspects of cyber risk management and mitigation, risk/vulnerability assessments (red and blue teams), R&D of vulnerabilities and mitigations, Computer Network Defense (CND), Assessment & Authorization (A&A) cybersecurity, network and security operations center management, and Incident Response.

James has over 25 years of experience in risk management, system validation, cybersecurity assessments, penetration testing, secure software development, CND, A&A, information assurance (IA) and information technology. His experience includes Risk Management Framework process implementation, risk management and mitigation plans, policy development, and enforcement of government, commercial, and DoD cybersecurity requirements.

Prior to RMC, James served in cybersecurity and IA roles at Booz Allen Hamilton, SAIC, and SRA International.

James has achieved and maintains CISSP, PMP, GISCP, GRID, CSSLP, CEH, and Security + certifications. He holds a Master of Science in Information Assurance and a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science.

Patrick Miller (CISA, CRISC, CISSP-ISSAP, SSCP, CEH, NSA-IAM, CVI) has dedicated his career to the protection and defense of critical infrastructures as a trusted independent advisor.

He is CEO at Ampere, as well as the founder, director and president emeritus of EnergySec, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization focusing on information sharing, situational awareness and security workforce development.

Patrick’s diverse background includes positions with regulatory agencies, private consulting firms and utility asset owners within the Energy, Telecommunications and Financial Services verticals.

Andreas Philipp is a Senior IoT Business Development Manager at Keyfactor. With a degree in communications engineering, he started his career more than 30 years ago as a developer in the field of cardbase payment and hardware security modules. In the course of his career, he managed the sales and marketing department of a medium-sized hardware security module provider for more than 10 years. As a business development manager, Andreas now focuses on the integration and adaptation of cyber security solutions in the industrial IoT sector.

With 23+ years of experience in business development and consulting, Joshua specializes in cybersecurity and IoT solutions. He currently serves as a Senior Business Development Manager for IoT at Keyfactor, a leader in secure digital identity solutions. Early in his career, he focused on Embedded Real Time Operating Systems (RTOS), middleware, and development tool laying the groundwork for today’s IoT landscape. Joshua later expanded into the IT sector, selling cloud and managed services as well as solutions from VMware, Citrix, EMC, and Cisco.

During his time with Honeywell, Joshua contributed to Honeywell’s Connected Enterprise team, advocating for the adoption of OPC UA standards across the Americas. Most Recently, he has been instrumental in promoting Rockwell Automation’s software solutions for IoT, augmented Reality (AR), Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS), Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), and Cyber security solutions. Joshua is committed to aligning innovative technologies and services with customer needs for enhanced security and growth.

Ellen leads the go to market strategy for Keyfactor's IoT business focusing around digital identity security solutions for the IoT device manufacturer market. Ellen is passionate about IoT and helping customers establish strong security implementations for the lifecycle of their overall IoT systems.

Ellen has 17+ years experience leading new product development with a focus on IoT and connected products in Lighting controls, Smart Cities, Connected buildings and Smart Home technology. Ellen has held leadership roles in Product & Engineering at General Electric and Sky Technologies over her career.

Ruben Lobo leads product management for industrial switching and industrial security portfolio at Cisco. He has spent the last 10 years developing industrial Ethernet and OT cybersecurity products to meet the needs of customers in Manufacturing, Energy, Transportation, and other industries. Prior to working in the industrial space, Ruben has held various engineering positions in systems development at Cisco, working on designing network architectures for Wireline and Mobile Service Providers. Ruben Lobo has a Ph.D. in computer engineering from North Carolina State University.

Pete is a Solution Architect for Smart Cities and Connected Transportation in Cisco’s industrial IoT group. He represents Cisco at ITS Americas and ITS Ireland. Throughout his 15 years with Cisco, Pete has held roles across Engineering, Technical Marketing and Product Management. He is the architect of Cisco’s reference architecture for Connected Communities Infrastructure (CCI).

Tim Householder is an Industry Advisor with WWT, deeply engaged with global manufacturing clients at both the business and technology level helping to drive profitable outcomes meeting disciplined objectives. He has been working with clients over the past 13+ years in various industries including Healthcare, Retail, Mining, Rail, and Manufacturing.

Kevin Wood leads the network architecture team supporting industrial customers at Cisco. He has over two decades of industry experience in global manufacturing, retail, and information technology and worked as a Cisco customer, partner, and architect. Kevin holds a Bachelor of Information Systems & Computer Science from Radford University and a Masters in Enterprise Architecture and Business transformation from The Pennsylvania State University.

Donald Steed is the Director of Solution Architecture and Services at Eurotech, Inc.. With over 30 years of semi-conductor and system architecture development experience, Don brings a deep understanding of what it takes for businesses and industry partners to transform their business to keep up with the increasing demand of Edge analytics and AI. Don’s background includes a diverse set of leadership roles in the technology industry focused on transformative engagements and strategic partnerships. Don’s passion is helping customers maximize their IoT initiatives by leveraging open-source technologies to solve complex problems and bring more value. He has a bachelor’s degree in Electronic Engineering and Computer Science from Cal Poly SLO and an executive MBA from the University of Colorado.

Joyce Hunter is a strategic doer, philanthroprenuer and experienced executive, leveraging a diverse background in executive coaching, strategic management and information technology advisory services to industry, non-profit and all levels of government. This multi-dimensional experience offers “big picture” strategies to clients, combining knowledge of today’s business needs with expertise in applying a spectrum of technologies, standards and partners to meet local, national and global challenges.

Matt Wiseman is a Sr. Product Manager at OPSWAT managing the OT product line. Matt’s focus is on product, engineering, product marketing and cybersecurity strategy. Matt has experience working in large industrial organizations and has worked to provide comprehensive cybersecurity solutions for all key critical infrastructure industries. His passion for cybersecurity comes from a love of solving unique business cases and deciphering complex problems. Prior to joining OPSWAT, Matt served in various cybersecurity strategy and global marketing leadership roles at Honeywell.

Based in Canada, Matt holds an MBA and a BA in Business Management with an Honors Specialization in Finance. In addition, Matt has obtained a variety of cyber related certifications from the Department of Homeland Security, GISF and is a member of the GIAC Advisory Board.

Outside of the office, Matt is committed to on-going education in all aspects of life, loves the outdoors and spending quality time with family and friends. Always up for a new challenge, he is looking forward to helping others navigate the fast-paced world of cybersecurity.

Eric Byres is widely recognized as one of the world’s top experts in the field of SCADA security. As the inventor of the Tofino Security technology, Eric and his partner Joann guided the product through its evolution from academic research project and startup to successful acquisition by Belden Inc (NYSE: BDC). Tofino received numerous industry awards and was licensed by industry giants such as Honeywell, Schneider Electric and Caterpillar. Today it is probably the most widely deployed ICS-specific firewall in the world.

Eric is also known for his leadership in international standards and research for ICS/SCADA security. As the founder of the BCIT Critical Infrastructure Security Centre, he shaped it into one of North America’s leading academic facilities in ICS security, culminating in a SANS Institute Security Leadership Award in 2006. At the same time, he provided guidance to government security agencies, and major energy companies on protection for critical infrastructures. He was the chair of the ISA SP-99 Security Technologies Working Group, and the Canadian representative for the IEC TC65/WG10 standards effort.

Some of Eric’s achievements include testifying to the US Congress on the “Security of Industrial Control Systems in National Critical Infrastructures” as well as receiving awards from international organizations. These include the IEEE Outstanding Industry Applications Article Prize in 2000, the 2004 “Donald P. Eckman Award” and the 2005 “Keith Otto Award” presented by the International Society of Automation (ISA). Eric was made an ISA Fellow in 2009 and given ISA’s highest honor, “Excellence in Leadership”, in 2013. Eric was also the inventor of the Achilles Test Platform (now owned by GE) and was the founder of Byres Research Inc. and Artemis Systems Engineering. Today Eric provides technology and market guidance to companies entering the ICS market, as well as policy guidance for companies involved in the operation of critical infrastructures.
